Guidance. Psalm 43:3-4
"O send out your light and your truth;
let them lead me;
let them bring me to your holy hill
and to your dwelling.
Then I will go to the altar of God,
to God my exceeding joy;
and I will praise you with the harp,
O God, my God." NRSV
"Give me your lantern and compass,
give me a map,
So I can find my way to the sacred mountain,
to the place of your presence,
To enter the place of worship,
meet my exuberant God,
Sing my thanks with a harp,
magnificent God, my God." The Message
Reflection. Sometimes we get lost, don't we? Finding our way Spiritually can get difficult. We can get help in finding our way back to God. Indeed, this lovely piece of Scripture reminds us that God will provide the tools for the road.
To be in the best of relationships with Jesus, Methodist speaks in terms of 'means of grace.' These are things like the sacraments, prayer, reading Scripture, meeting with other Christians and worship. These can be a light, a compass and a map.
Let's be honest, even with all this laid out for us, we can still get lost and feel displaced. Being a disciple of Jesus is not easy. It was never sold as being so.
Yet, the benefits are wonderful. So, today, why not give thanks for how good it is to know and be known by Jesus. Remember your Christian friends who show you the way to the Way. Pray a bit. Worship a lot. Read the passage again.
Prayer. Lord Jesus, please reveal yourself more and more to us this day. Amen.
