The beginning of the good news about Jesus the Messiah, the Son of God, as it is written in Isaiah the prophet: “I will send my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way”— “a voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him.’ ”
Reflection. Are we ready? In 63 days we will celebrate the birth of certain baby. We are right to do so and we are right to prepare. It has always interested me that Mark, the gospel writer, doesn't start with Jesus' birth. He jumps straight in with the prophecy about John the Baptist, then we are away: John preaches, Jesus is baptized, Jesus is tempted, Jesus than begins teaching, "The time is fulfilled, and the Kingdom of God has come near, repent and believe in the good news.' Are we ready.
Prayer. Come, Lord Jesus. Amen.
