"Be careful then how you live, not as unwise people but as wise, making the most of the time, because the days are evil. So do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. Do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery; but be filled with the Spirit, as you sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, singing and making melody to the Lord in your hearts, giving thanks to God the Father at all times and for everything in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ."
Reflection. Paul exhorts us to live lives reflecting that we belong to Jesus. Elsewhere in this epistles, Paul exhorts us to live in a way worthy of our high calling as disciples of Jesus. The point he is making is to be distinct from the way most folk live. We are not to be filled with alcohol (a little is not barred) and get drunk; rather to be filled with the blessed Holy Spirit. Being full of the Holy Spirit will bring songs of thankfulness to our lips.
Even early on this Monday morning, we should let the Holy Spirit bring praise forth from us. We know all the good things the Almighty has done for us!
Prayer. Lord Jesus Christ, may I live a life that brings you glory. Amen.
