In you, LORD my God, I put my trust. I trust in you; do not let me be put to shame, nor let my enemies triumph over me. No one who hopes in you will ever be put to shame, but shame will come on those who are treacherous without cause. Show me your ways, LORD, teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long. Remember, LORD, your great mercy and love, for they are from of old.
Knowing where to go; being guided on a clear route; and following a well trodden path is very comforting when out walking. Many of you will know of my love for the Camino de Santiago. The route is very well marked. Indeed, you would have to be exceptionally unobservant to miss the multiple and obvious way markers. There are bright yellow arrows, blue signs, way posts (those in Galicia even have the distance to go to the altar in the cathedral down to the metre), and shells markers - the symbol for the Camino. Camino literally means 'walk.'
Wouldn't it be wonderful if it was as easy to find our way through life? Let's rejoice and remember that Jesus calls himself as 'the Way.' If we trust in him, we will never be put to shame. The psalmist asks that God will teach, guide and and show us His way.
Prayer. Lord God Almighty, I put my trust in the Way. Please send your Holy Spirit to show me how to live according to your will. Guide me, o thou great redeemer. Amen.
