Romans 12:1-2 "Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is — his good, pleasing and perfect will."
Reflection. These are startling and challenging words. We are appealled to, indeed urged, to offer ourselves as living sacrifices. Dwell on that for a moment. What does it mean to be living sacrifice?
Then we are asked to think differently to the wider world and not to be 'conformed' to the ways of the world. That is really difficult as we are bombarded by news, film, social media, and TV. Yet there is hope. Did you notice that we are asked to 'be transformed.' Is this a work of the Holy Spirit - 'be transformed by the renewing of your mind.' Will we be open to the Holy Spirit changing us. This will help us to discern God's will.
Prayer. Come Holy Spirit and change me and help me to know what is good and acceptable and perfect. For Jesus's sake. Amen.
