2 Corinthians 3:4-6
Such confidence we have through Christ before God. Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God. He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant—not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.
Reflection. People have criticised St Paul, his colleagues, and the ministry they exercised. Paul did not 'big' himself up. Instead, he reminds everyone that all they do is from and because and through God. Competency comes from God. It is a gift. So, when folk are critical, and when we are living as God wills, then we need to think whom they are criticising..
Now, what does that mean for us? We are ministers if the new covenant of the Spirit; the new covenant of life. If we are ministering to those around as God would have us minister, then there will be criticism; yet, they are being critical of the God of love we serve.
Prayer. Lord Jesus, make me competent in serving you. Amen.
