I thank my God every time I remember you, constantly praying with joy in every one of my prayers for all of you, because of your sharing in the gospel from the first day until now. I am confident of this, that the one who began a good work among you will bring it to completion by the day of Jesus Christ. It is right for me to think this way about all of you, because you hold me in your heart, for all of you share in God's grace with me, both in my imprisonment and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel.
Reflection. God has begun a good work among us and will bring it to completion. On the one hand God's work in us, because of Jesus, is complete: our sins are forgiven and we have a new life in Christ. On the other hand, we all have growing as disciples to do; we all know our continuing imperfections. However, be encouraged, we are perfected in Christ, in the sense that our salvation is complete, and completely guaranteed. Not because of us, but because of Jesus.
The Philippians shared in the defence and confirmation of the gospel. Will we? Will we tell others of Jesus? Will we Find One? Of course we will.
Praise. On this Lord's Day, we sing the Lord's praises in confirmation of the Good News of Jesus Christ. Amen.
