Jeremiah 31:31-34 "This is the covenant I will make with the people of Israel after that time,” declares the LORD. “I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. No longer will they teach their neighbor, or say to one another, ‘Know the LORD,’ because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest,” declares the LORD. “For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.”
Reflection. Each year, we Methodist have a 'set piece' service during which we renew our covenant relationship with our Loving Heavenly Father. We commit to serving or being laid aside at the whim or will of God. "I am no longer mine but yours." It is a powerful and moving service. What marks it out for me is that it is all about love. Jeremiah reminds us that the heart changing work is done by God. Our God desires that we are in a love relationship with him. How wonderful is that. We love because He first loved us.
Prayer. 'Change my heart, O God. Make me ever new.' Thank you for loving me. Thank you for Jesus. Amen.
