Creator. Scripture, reflection and thanksgiving

Psalms 104:1-5 NIV

Praise the LORD, my soul. LORD my God, you are very great; you are clothed with splendor and majesty. The LORD wraps himself in light as with a garment; he stretches out the heavens like a tent and lays the beams of his upper chambers on their waters. He makes the clouds his chariot and rides on the wings of the wind. He makes winds his messengers, flames of fire his servants. He set the earth on its foundations; it can never be moved.

Reflection.

I never get into debates about the age of the earth, the universe and everything - to borrow a phrase from The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy (if you are under 35, look it up).  All that seems to do is cause argument and is the biggest red herring ever that distracts me from simply responding with wonder and awe to the majesty of creation. For me, it is enough to have faith that our God is the creator. I look at the marvels around me and have a deeply Spiritual 'wow' moment. Take last weekend, as an example. On a walk which started in drizzle, the sky cleared and the light of the sun on the Moor and on the hills was breath-taking. It was a stop and stare moment. How does nature affect you when you take the time to pause and notice? By the way, the letter to the Colossians tells us that all things were created in and through and for Jesus. Now, that is a WOW moment to ponder.

Thanksgiving.

Thank you, Lord God Almighty, for the created order. Forgive us when we are not the stewards of creation we ought to be. In Jesus's name. Amen.
