Isaiah 45:3 "I will give you the treasures of darkness, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am the LORD, the God of Israel, who summons you by name. For the sake of Jacob my servant, of Israel my chosen, I summon you by name and bestow on you a title of honor, though you do not acknowledge me."
Reflection. As a youngster I was a bit scared of the dark. Then in one rôle in the armed forces, darkness was my friend. Darkness would hide you from an enemy. Yet, we are never out of the sight of our loving God. Have a look at Psalm 139:12.
So, a question or two for us to reflect upon. I am indepted to Spectrum for these questions..
- Try and recall a time when physical darkness has offered you a safe and healing place.
- How do you feel about darkness being used as a positive metaphor for the divine?
Prayer. Lord God Almighty, may I find you even in the darkest of nights of the soul. For even here, you are present in love and grace. In the name of the Light of the World, Jesus. Name.
