"In the beginning when God created the heavens and the earth, the earth was a formless void and darkness covered the face of the deep, while a wind from God swept over the face of the waters. Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. And God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day."
Reflection. God moves and then changes the view. The first words spoken over the world make things visible; "Let there be light." Light is so important. When Jesus came to live as one of us, He is called the Light of the World. His Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
This is not just Good News. It is God's great news for a world that feels dark. "Let there be light."
Prayer. Lord Jesus, the Light of the World, may we bear your light to the world around us. In your name. Amen.
