Then the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle. Moses could not enter the tent of meeting because the cloud had settled on it, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle. In all the travels of the Israelites, whenever the cloud lifted from above the tabernacle, they would set out; but if the cloud did not lift, they did not set out—until the day it lifted. So the cloud of the LORD was over the tabernacle by day, and fire was in the cloud by night, in the sight of all the Israelites during all their travels.
Reflection. The Israelites had clear guidance as to when they should stay or when they should move on. God was with them. Don't we sometimes wish that guidance for us was as clear as a towering cloud or fire in the sky at night. I find that God needs to speak to me with a rather loud shout, not a 'still small voice' for me to hear. How about you?
How do we find Spiritual guidance for our travels? Let me offer some thoughts; Scripture, prayer, worship, God's people, the Lord's Supper, silence, nature, family, friends, conscience....hopefully we won't spend years in the wilderness.
Prayer. Guide me, o thou redeemer, pilgrim through this promised land. Amen.
