Psalm 4:3-8 "Look at this: look Who got picked by God! He listens the split second I call to him. Complain if you must, but don't lash out. Keep your mouth shut, and let your heart do the talking. Build your case before God and wait for his verdict. Why is everyone hungry for more? "More, more," they say. "More, more." I have God's more-than-enough, More joy in one ordinary day Than they get in all their shopping sprees. At day's end I'm ready for sound sleep, For you, God, have put my life back together." (The Message)
Reflection. Sometimes a different translation refreshes our hearts and minds. Who among us is not caught by the phrase, "I have God's more-than-enough.' Dwell on that for a moment. Let it sink in, 'God’s more-than-enough.' You bet! God offers more than enough. So much more than 'enough.'
Another idea pops out of the psalm. If you have to complain, do so in a worthy and sensible way. Just don't rant!
I have to say that I do like a shopping spree...if it is for good food or camping equipment. These do please me, but not as much as know I am loved by the more-than-enough God. How about you.
Prayer. Lord God Almighty, King of more-than-enough, we worship you. In Jesus's name. Amen
