John 7:28-31 "As Jesus taught in the Temple, he said in a loud voice, “Do you really know me and know where I am from? I have not come on my own authority. He who sent me, however, is truthful. You do not know him, but I know him, because I come from him and he sent me.”Then they tried to seize him, but no one laid a hand on him, because his hour had not yet come. But many in the crowd believed in him and said, “When the Messiah comes, will he perform more miracles than this man has?”
Reflection. Are we as self-aware as was Jesus. He knew himself. He knew where he came from who sent him, and what he was about. There is no hidden-ness about Jesus in this passage (in some places he asks people not to speak openly about him).
And, Jesus asks the congregation an important question. 'Do you really know me?' Do I, do we really know Jesus? That's a live and life question. Well, the answer is a resounding, 'yes!' We do know Jesus. We love him because he first loved us. Let's tell others.
Prayer. Lord Jesus, thank you for knowing me and loving me. Help me to want to love and know you more. Amen.
