In those days there was no king in Israel; all the people did what was right in their own eyes.
Reflection. Whatever you think of a constitutional monarchy, it is worth noting, that in the context of this single verse, having a monarch and social cohesion were linked closely. So, no king meant lawlessness reigned. This is what is meant by 'all the people did what was right in their own eyes.' They weren't doing good. Anarchy was happening.
Does this mean that we need a monarch nowadays? Or, perhaps it means that good governance is important.
Prayer. We pray for the leaders of our nation. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
