​Mother of God! Scripture, reflection and prayer.

Scripture. Luke 1:38

 “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her."

Reflection. Theotokos - God bearer.

Mother of God (used in the Eastern Orthodox Church as a title of the Virgin Mary).
"the love poured into the Theotokos to enable her to love so fully in her turn"

We should give thanks that Mary chose to be obedient to the will of the Almighty.  Not to worship Mary, but on Mothering Sunday (in the UK), to be thankful for her part in the salvation story. 

Also, on this day I remember those women and men who wish for children, but are not so blessed.

Prayer. Lord Jesus, thank you for our mothers. Thank you that Mary bore you. May we be obedient and loving. Amen.
