Onwards. Scripture, reflection and prayer.

Philippians 3:12-16 "Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
All of us, then, who are mature should take such a view of things. And if on some point you think differently, that too God will make clear to you. Only let us live up to what we have already attained."

Reflection. Paul, the Spiritual giant, always seeks to grow more in his faith and life in Christ. What an example he sets us. His response to having been saved by grace through faith alone is to press on and not sit on his hands. His goal is the heavenly call of God in Christ Jesus.

I have seen this in other folk who are Spiritual giants. They don't see themselves as Spiritual giants. Instead they see themselves as people who want to know and more of Jesus; who want to grow more and more in love with the God who calls them heavenward; who see themselves as needing forgiveness.

How do we see ourselves? No guilt trips here, please. Why not see ourselves as loved and forgiven and the apple of God's eye.

Prayer. Lord Jesus, by the power of the Holy Spirit, please encourage me to press on and strain forward in serving you. You are love. Amen.
