"I was glad when they said to me,
“Let us go to the house of the Lord!”
2 Our feet are standing
within your gates, O Jerusalem.
3 Jerusalem—built as a city
that is bound firmly together.
4 To it the tribes go up,
the tribes of the Lord,
as was decreed for Israel,
to give thanks to the name of the Lord.
5 For there the thrones for judgment were set up,
the thrones of the house of David."
Reflection: Sunday. The day when Christian people make a point of going to the house of the Lord. Yes, the church is the people, yet for many, many people 'place' is important. Especially if that place has become a Spiritual home to them.
The psalmist was overjoyed to be invited to go to the house of the Lord. Why not 'Find one' new person to join you in going to the house of the Lord. It is an invitation to life!
Did you notice a sense of purpose as well. The tribes of Israel received the decree to go to the house of the Lord 'to give thanks to the name of the Lord.' In your church today, 'give thanks to the name of the Lord.' And be blessed in His presence in that place.
Prayer. Be present in every place I visit today, O Lord. May I bless and give thanks for your Holy name. For Jesus' sake. Amen.
