Luke 11:1-4 "He was praying in a certain place, and after he had finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples.” He said to them, “When you pray, say:
Father, hallowed be your name.
Your kingdom come.
Give us each day our daily bread.
And forgive us our sins,
for we ourselves forgive everyone indebted to us.
And do not bring us to the time of trial.” "
Reflection. A friend of mine has an alarm set for midday. It causes him to pause and pray the Lord's Prayer. What an excellent discipline is that. Whether it is to pray the Lord's Prayer 'per se' or just to bring prayers into the heart of the day. This is a wonderful lesson for us all.
The Lord's Prayer sets a great pattern: praise, prayers for the Kingdom, prayers for ourselves, and forgiveness abounding.
Prayer. Lord Jesus, help us to give ourselves to you in prayer. Amen.
