1 Chronicles 29:26-30David son of Jesse was king over all Israel.  He ruled over Israel forty years—seven in Hebron and thirty-three in Jerusalem. He died at a good old age, having enjoyed long life, wealth and honor. His son Solomon succeeded him as king.
As for the events of King David’s reign, from beginning to end, they are written in the records of Samuel the seer, the records of Nathan the prophet and the records of Gad the seer, together with the details of his reign and power, and the circumstances that surrounded him and Israel and the kingdoms of all the other lands.
Reflection. David was a good King, a flawed human (being with a lust for life), a psalm writer extraordinaire...and, chosen by God for a rôle.

Some of great and most well known lines in Scripture are from David's heart.

Psalm 23:1 The LORD is my shepherd...
Psalm 24:1 The earth is the LORD'S...
Psalm 25:1 To you, O LORD, I lift up my soul...
Psalm 122:1 I was glad when they said to me...
Psalm 139:1 O LORD, you have searched me and known me...
Psalm 51:1 Have mercy on me, O God... (This Psalm of repentance follows Nathan pointing out David's sin with Bathsheba and all that transpired thereafter - 2 Samuel 12:1-19).

The shepherd boy with the 'ruddy complexion' and a slingshot did OK!

Prayer. O LORD, be with us as you were with your servant, David. In Jesus's name. Amen.
