God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.
How often do the psalms speak to life today? The news has been full of horrendous pictures of the aftermath of earthquakes in Turkey and Syria. Do we wonder what these three verses might speak into this terrible event? What might these verses say to Nicola Bulley's family? Sometimes we need to make the effort, as an act of will, to trust in God. Yes, it remains true that God is our Refuge and strength. God is the event present help...and not just in times of trouble.
Lord Jesus, may I trust ever so more and ever so much in you. Amen.
