The path of the righteous is level; you, the Upright One, make the way of the righteous smooth. Yes, LORD, walking in the way of your laws, we wait for you; your name and renown are the desire of our hearts. My soul yearns for you in the night; in the morning my spirit longs for you. When your judgments come upon the earth, the people of the world learn righteousness.
Reflection. Isaiah seeks to serve God and live for him every moment. During the day, Isaiah walks in the ways God desires. Isaiah waits for God. Isaiah sets God as the desire of his heart. In the night, Isaiah's very soul yearns for God. When he wakes, Isaiah's spirit longs for God.
Notice again the verbs: walking in the way, waits, desires, yearns, longs for. Isaiah's witness to a God centred life is so wonderful, and yet begs a question of me; namely, 'am I like this?'
Now, if we find ourselves coming up short, then let's not either guilt trip ourselves or then strive to be better. A better approach would be both to thank God for people who are Spiritual examples, and, then, to ask Jesus to send the Holy Spirit to help us and fill us again.
Prayer. Lord Jesus, may you be the centre of my life. May I be a living, loving witness to you. Please send your Holy Spirit to equip and enable me in your service. Amen.
