Wisdom of Solomon 9:1-4 "O God of my ancestors and Lord of mercy,
who have made all things by your word,
and by your wisdom have formed humankind
to have dominion over the creatures you have made, and rule the world in holiness and righteousness, and pronounce judgment in uprightness of soul,
give me the wisdom that sits by your throne,
and do not reject me from among your servants."
Reflection. As COP26 draws to a close, I thought it worth reminding ourselves that we are called to care for the world. Look at how we are to do this. Solomon links such caring to righteousness, holiness, judgement and uprightness. Christ-like qualities! We can locate Jesus in this!
As we pause today to remember victims of war, let's also take a moment to think about climate change and how that is affecting many, and will affect many more. Let's also give thanks to God for the wonderful world we inhabit. As Louis Armstrong sang, 'What a wonderful world.'
Praise. Thank you, Lord God Almighty, Father, Son and Holy Spirit for our wonderful, beautiful, amazing planet. Help us to do our caring part. In Jesus's name. Amen.
