2 Timothy 1:6-7
For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.
Reflection. After a local Methodist church spent a day of prayer and fasting, God laid on our hearts two related, but distinct 'words.' They are these: 'Belonging and believing' (as one idea), and 'bold.'
In the light of these 2 verses, who else thinks St Paul would say that we ought to be bold? The Holy Spirit gives us power, love and the ability to live properly for God. How often do we need reminding of the God who lives within us and empowers us...let's do so 'flame fanning.'
Prayer. 'Be bold, be strong for the Lord our God is with us.' Amen, amen, amen.
