Matthew 13:52-53 “Have you understood all these things?” Jesus asked.“Yes,” they replied.
He said to them, “Therefore every teacher of the law who has become a disciple in the kingdom of heaven is like the owner of a house who brings out of his storeroom new treasures as well as old.” When Jesus had finished these parables, he moved on from there."
Reflection. 'Out with the old and in with the new.' That is a common enough and well accepted phrase. It has value as it can help us to avoid stagnation. Yet, in this parable, Jesus reminds us that there are old treasures in the storehouse that are well worth thinking about.
So, here's a bit of homework for today. Why not spend some time thinking about an old story, an older 'treasure' of God at work in your life. Recall a time from your past with thanksgiving when you felt God at work. Now, think of a more recent 'treasure' time with God at work in you. Bring these out of the storehouse of Christ Jesus that He has given you.
Thanksgiving. Thank you Lord Jesus, you are our treasures one. Amen.
