For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
Reflection. The dreadful war in Ukraine goes on. It is awful. It is a physical war. Goodness, a shopping centre was attacked yesterday. Yet, it is worse than that. It has an evil feel about it. There is a spiritual battle going on.
We are living at a time of war. As Christians, we are involved on the front line of a spiritual war. St Paul is clear we have the weapons available to fight and to win. The Holy Spirit enables the destruction of strongholds, arguments and pretensions against God. The weapons include prayer, Scripture, worship, fellowship, the Gift of the Holy Spirit, salvation in Christ and the love of God.
And we can think properly. How amazing is that. We take even our thoughts, every thought captive for Christ. You know what they say, 'every thought counts.'
Prayer. Lord Jesus, mighty in battle, prepare and equip me for the spiritual. Help me to put on the whole armour of God (Ephesians 6:10-17).
