Now all has been heard;
here is the conclusion of the matter:
Fear God and keep his commandments,
for this is the duty of all mankind.
14 For God will bring every deed into judgment,
including every hidden thing,
whether it is good or evil.
Reflection. What a conclusion to a book! After all the comment and discussion in the rest of the book, the Teacher concludes with an insight of wisdom and a great sense of perspective. It all comes down to this:
"Fear God and keep his commandments,
for this is the duty of all mankind."
When I consider things and worry or, even delight in things and people, do I seek God's will first? Do we? Do you? I'm mighty glad that God is the fairest of judges...
Prayer. Lord God Almighty, please send your Holy Spirit to enable me to put you first in my life, for such is Godly fear and awe. You are so loving, yet so awesome. In Jesus' name. Amen.
