2 Kings 1:2-4
Now Ahaziah had fallen through the lattice of his upper room in Samaria and injured himself. So he sent messengers, saying to them, “Go and consult Baal-Zebub, the god of Ekron, to see if I will recover from this injury.” But the angel of the Lord said to Elijah the Tishbite, “Go up and meet the messengers of the king of Samaria and ask them, ‘Is it because there is no God in Israel that you are going off to consult Baal-Zebub, the god of Ekron?’ Therefore this is what the Lord says: ‘You will not leave the bed you are lying on. You will certainly die!’” So Elijah went.
Reflection. Ahaziah is badly injured and wants reassurance that he will recover. He seeks this in the wrong place. The LORD is already involved. Ahaziah will die because he has turned to the wrong God.
Where do we turn when things are going wrong in our lives? Where do we turn when things are going well? These are a good questions. Here is a better one; where do we turn when things are going normally? You see our relationship with God ought not to be just for the extremes in life. It is a day-to-day relationship.
Prayer. Lord Jesus, help me to feel you as close as my breathing. Amen.
