Psalms 84:1-4 NIV
How lovely is your dwelling place, LORD Almighty! My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the LORD; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God. Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young— a place near your altar, LORD Almighty, my King and my God. Blessed are those who dwell in your house; they are ever praising you.
We know that the church is the people and not the building. However, for many people their church building, their Spiritual home, is a sacred space. The psalmist felt the same about the Temple. He knew it as God's dwelling place in a very special way. For many, sacred spaces are those places where the space between God and us feels thin. What makes a space sacred for you? Why not dwell on that thought for a moment. In your mind, take yourself to that scared space. Make the place where you are right now a sacred place. For the truth is, that by the power of the Holy Spirit, every place is made sacred. One name for Jesus is 'God with us.'
