The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
2 Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they reveal knowledge.
3 They have no speech, they use no words;
no sound is heard from them.
4 Yet their voice goes out into all the earth,
their words to the ends of the world.
In the heavens God has pitched a tent for the sun.
5 It is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber,
like a champion rejoicing to run his course.
6 It rises at one end of the heavens
and makes its circuit to the other;
nothing is deprived of its warmth.
I am not an astronomer. I can name a few constellations and work out which are planets in the night sky, but that is about it. However, I have been blessed a few times to be in places where there was very little light pollution. The first time I saw the Milky Way was a 'Wow moment.' It was awesome. What about you? Do you look at the night sky, on a cloudless and clear winter's night, and find you are wowed by it? Do you just drink it in? 'The heavens declare the glory of God.' They surely do! Oh, and it remains a wow moment for me to look at the night time heavens.
Lord God Almighty, maker of the heavens, heavy us the blessing of clear skies tonight that we might let them bare witness to you glory. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
