Our Mother who art in Heaven
Performing Arts Mission presents Our Mother who art in Heaven, by Anne Middleton.
Anne’s poem prayer is inspired by the original Aramaic name for God in the Lord’s Prayer – Abwoon – meaning both Father and Mother. Anne’s prayer to our God who is beyond gender, is that we might participate in God’s creative Spirit and love with our Heavenly Mother’s love.
With thanks to Simeon Wood for his mystical music and to Rebecca Bush for use of her powerful paintings to enhance this message.

Find One
Performing Arts Mission presents Find One, by Anne Middleton.
Anne has written a series of haikus to encapsulate the essence of Plymouth and Devonport Methodist Circuit’s vision: Find One. The movement was devised in workshops with members of the PAM drama team.
This video is taken from the first performance, at the launch of Find One at the Circuit Service, on 4th September 2022 at Ivybridge Methodist Church. Performed by Darren and Anne Middleton, with members of the PAM drama team.
With thanks to Seoirse Munns for permission to use his fantastic track again (Anne has used it in other contexts over the years).
Special thanks to Nic Courtney for sorting out the technical issues with the video!

Performing Arts Mission presents Peter’s Pledge, passionately performed by Rev. Darren Middleton, from our Easter act of worship Come and See… This is an original song premiere, written especially for Come and See… / Passion; it is the first collaboration between Anne Middleton and Rob Young, MD of Plymouth Military Wives Choir, of which Anne is a member. Peter’s Pledge depicts the turning point for the disciple, as he realises his mistakes and decides to commit the rest of his life to living for Jesus. Filmed at the stunning historic site of the old castle in Plympton, the drama of the setting along with the emotive music, adds to the passion of Peter’s Pledge.

Performing Arts Mission Enabler, Anne Middleton, has created a video resource for Remembrance services. The video features Anne’s poem, ‘Because of you…’, written for the Royal British Legion’s 2018 ‘Thank You’ theme, with her husband, Rev. Darren Middleton, singing ‘You raise me up’ (to a newly created backing track by Paul Field). The poem and song are set as part of an ‘Act of Remembrance,’ which includes bugles sounding The Last Post and Reveille. At a time when performance is problematic, the hope is that this will enable a meaningful Act of Remembrance in your church services – whether in-situ, recorded or live-streamed. (The video includes a two-minute silence which begins at seven minutes in.)
This project has been created by the Performing Arts Mission, supported by the Royal British Legion Dartmoor Branch and the Devonshire and Dorset Regiment. It is available as a free resource thanks to the Plymouth and Devonport Methodist Circuit. Special thanks go to the wonderful group of Veterans and Standard Bearers who took part and to Wyvern Barracks for permission to film.
Important notice: If you use the video in an Act of Remembrance which will be played on-line, please ensure that you have a CCLI / music streaming licence for playing music, because the song is a cover and not an original. The video must not be altered in any way and it is important to let the credits run to the end of the video, to cover copyright / permissions. To share on Facebook, please share from the PAM page. Thank you.

Plymouth and Exeter Methodist District
This video was created by Anne Middleton with Bridget Down – inspired by signs of hope shared by Lay Workers in the Plymouth and Exeter Methodist District. Bridget encouraged Lay Workers in the District to share their reflections on signs of ‘hope and green shoots’ as seen in their churches and communities. Anne then created a series of Haikus to bring together the themes and the result was a video that was shared at the District Synod. Thank you to Angela Smith, for the inspiring artwork, and Simeon Wood, for permission to use his beautiful piece of music, appropriately called, ‘Hope’.
