OMC Hall and Caretakers Cottage are now open!!!
Out of the ashes of Oreston Methodist Church, the Plymouth and Devonport Methodist Circuit have created the Oreston Centre – a community hub which is a high spec beautiful large space, for group, mission, theatre and the arts.
Our Property and Facilities Officer, Sharon-Lee Beattie has project managed this new venture – her vision was to repurpose our church building to create a thriving community hub. She worked closely with the community and councillors to provide a needed resource for the area. This may be the first of other potential transformations to respond to the current needs of the Methodist Church.
The Performing Arts Mission Enabler, Anne Middleton, worked with Sharon to create a dynamic space to engage the community and circuit in a new expression of faith with an emphasis on theatre and the arts. The OMC Hall is looking to be a space for art exhibitions and creative workshops exploring spirituality and sharing a message of hope.
There has already been a Christmas Community Carols prior to Christmas, and the Sounds Musical Theatre rehearsed for their production of 9 to 5 at the Devonport Theatre. It is an amazing facility. Take a look at some of the photos below............
It has two halls:- the church hall which has a capacity of 100 (@£20 per hour) and the school hall with a capacity of 60 (@£15 per hour). It has a brand new kitchen and appliances with two fully accessible toilets. There is fast wifi access and a small green room (10) which can be used for meeting or as a green room. This can be hired separately for £10 per hour. If you would like to book the whole building for exclusive use, it would cost £50 per hour.
