Elder Tree

Elder Tree Befriending is a charity delivering an innovative and cutting edge preventative service that alleviates loneliness and social isolation in the over 50s across the city. It works in close partnership with Plymouth City Council and Livewell Southwest and its main aim is to prevent loneliness and support socially isolated and vulnerable older people to continue to live independently in their own homes.

It delivers 90 innovative health and social engagement activities in 50 locations across the city and provides volunteers to support the more vulnerable and housebound beneficiaries in their homes. The activities include seated and standing exercise groups, lunch and supper clubs, IT classes, activity groups, craft groups, Active Men’s clubs, choirs and dementia support group.

Elder Tree Befriending helps older people lead full and independent lives and offers them opportunities that most thought had passed them by.  The various activities are uplifting and designed to invigorate body, mind and soul and are the ideal vehicle for peer support and new and lasting friendships.

It is a referred-into service and the referral forms can be found on Elder Tree’s website www.eldertreeplymouth.co.uk .  Referrals can be made by organisations, family and friends or individuals themselves.
