Sadly, Trinity URC (Torr Lane, Hartley, Plymouth PL3 5NY) is shutting at the end of September after over 80 years in the present building. As part of the final weekend, they are organising a couple of music events in the church.
The first is a free organ concert by David Davies, Organist at Buckfast Abbey on Friday 22nd September at 7.00pm. This will be a rare event for Plymouth, with there being very few evening organ concerts held any more – it will be a truly excellent evening by one of the leading organists in the South West. His programme is very varied and contains some wonderful organ music and arrangements. This concert is free and there will be refreshments during the interval. The organ is widely regarded as one of the best in Plymouth!
The second event is a music afternoon on Saturday 23rd September 2.00pm. This is an informal afternoon of music by Trinity musicians, visiting singing groups and instrumentalists as well as concluding mini recital by David Stevens, (Chairman, Plymouth Organists' Association) on the organ. There will be free refreshments throughout the afternoon.
It would be great to see the building full for the final few events before the church closes for good. The final service is on Sunday 24th September at 10.30am.
